We expanded this West Village apartment into a four-bedroom unit, tactically combining it with a neighboring residence. We implemented a new, large kitchen to creatively navigate a maze of columns and plumbing risers, setting up a seamless transition into an open and bright living area. A connecting space becomes a useful buffer between separate private and public zones. Lined with custom built-in storage, the passageways lend character and utility to the renovation.
